Sweet potato virus 2 (SPV2) is a plant virus classified as a potty virus mediated by aphids. When infected with sweet potatoes, leaf vein yellowing and green spots occur, which leads to a decline in the quality and yield of sweet potatoes. In addition, it has been reported so far to infect plants such as genus Chenopodium, Datura, Nicotiana (Tobacco), and Ipomoea (Sweet potato).

Plenodomus destruens is a type of fungi that infects Convolvulaceae plants. When infected with sweet potatoes, the whole plant shows wilt and wither, resulting in poor growth. It has also been reported that infection spreads from infected seed pods to seedlings and the surrounding area, and in the soil the fungus can overwinter on plant residues.
Plenodomus destruens is an extremely important plant pathogen that cause a lot of damage such as a decline in quality and yield in sweet potato cultivation.
